I AM...

an HPCSA-registered genetic counsellor based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Originally from the Cape, I hold degrees from the University of Stellenbosch and the University of the Witwatersrand and completed my HPCSA internship across major public hospitals in Gauteng.

BACKGROUND

With a background as a medical scientist in diagnostic genetics, I have worked in private practice since 2018, supporting patients and families across diverse clinical areas. I have served on the Genetic Counsellors South Africa (GCSA) Committee and am a member of the South African Society for Human Genetics (SASHG).

IN ADDITION TO MY PRIVATE PRACTICE...

Alongside clinical practice, I hold a Research Associate position at the University of the Witwatersrand. My research focuses on healthcare communication and medical genetics. I supervise postgraduate students in the Faculty of Health Sciences, have published in various peer-reviewed journals, and present regularly at local and international conferences. Notably, I was invited to speak at the European Society of Human Genetics (Berlin, 2024) and the World Congress of Genetic Counselling (Cambridge, 2025).

ON A MORE PERSONAL NOTE...

Outside of work, I’m a mom of three boys and am happiest when spending time in the bush and outdoors with my family, or staying active through running, Hyrox, and CrossFit.
